A prince is born!

So it's obviously been awhile since we've posted but we are back! If you're wondering what has occupied our time these last 3 months, we are happy to announce it's all thanks to baby Apollo finally arriving into the world.

He's been the greatest gift I could've ever received and I'm so lucky to have amazing help from both my husband Brad and my sister Elissa (who is the best Aunt out there)! We are all so in love and it's truly amazing how someone so small can cause such a huge impact on our lives.

Without further ado, I'm pleased to introduce Apollo Tiberius Beneski born February 4, 2016:

My maternity shoot

Can't stop swooning over these photos from my maternity shoot with the wonderfully talented Jordan Denike Photography! She is a close friend of mine and I instantly knew she was the one I wanted to capture this special time in our life. I wanted an outdoor setting since I knew the baby's newborn shots would be done inside, and also I couldn't pass up all the leaves everywhere, it's so majestic! I recently had purchased the green Hunter boots the previous weekend and thought I'd pair it with the coco & fox blanket scarf in black watch-- my personal favorite! Hope you guys enjoy the photos and stay tuned because in less than 5 weeks you'll be able to see Apollo's newborn shoot!

APOLLO's nursery!

With just under 5 weeks left for this little prince's arrival, we are so excited to have his room all finished and ready for him! We decided to keep it clean with neutral colors, this way we can easily change themes as he grows. My husband is obsessed with the Apollo light up sign from Michael's craft stores behind his crib and my favorite piece is his crown and scroll wall art from Restoration Hardware (thanks to his Titi Blaine). We are going to be adding more photos on the walls of his aunts and uncles as well as family friends, and possibly adding a cushion to the rocking chair so it's more comfortable for me when I sit to nurse or read to him. All in all it's exactly how I pictured it to be and I hope Apollo loves it as much as we do!

Weekend getaway!

So the day after Christmas, Elissa was supposed to catch her bus back to Philadelphia, but naturally she missed it! (needs to work on her timing) She of course begged me to drive her the 2.5 hours back to her apartment and with it being the holidays, I couldn't say no. Rather than make it a quick drop off I called our cousin Kate and asked her to go over night with me. By doing so, we made this a fun weekend trip and I couldn't have asked for a better way to finish off the holidays! We shopped, went for dinner, watched movies, and then had delicious breakfast the next morning. I'm thinking of doing this once a month for a little R & R so I can try and keep my sanity. Of course come February, baby Apollo will be attending, and that'll make it even better than before!

Save vs Splurge

We all love fashion, that's no secret... but I think what we love most is the ability to mix and match pieces from high end to affordable collections to create one killer masterpiece! You don't need a million dollars to look like a fashionista, it's more about the hunt to find pieces in similar styles to create that effect. Click on the links below to compare styles and prices between saving and splurging!

Winter Essentials 2014

Winter months can sometimes feel like a major buzzkill especially after the hype of the holidays has died down. But thanks to our following winter essentials, we have found the cure for the winter blues!

When winter rolls in, so does our need to hibernate! With those cold nights ahead, what better way to endure the suffering than with a movie. Our top two flicks are hands down part of the best way to spend a night in. They may be Christmas movies, but who cares-- LONG LIVE CHRISTMAS!! First we have Love Actually which is sweet, romantic and hilarious all in one kick ass film. It maps you through the course of different couples lives throughout the holiday season showing you that "love actually" is all around. Then you have The Holiday! All you need to know about that is Jude Law (insert love sigh here) Okay honestly its based on two women (our girls Kate & Cameron) and they swap houses for the holiday. Obviously they both find love and it's the perfect movie ever- plus Jack Black is charmingly funny and cute. What makes these two movies extra special is that the men in our lives will actually watch these-- not every night like we want them to, but they will watch them and enjoy them. We highly suggest picking up these movies and watching them on your next date night in. That being said, why not incorporate the next three essentials into your date!

We DIE for these three essentials! This is something we do all year round no matter the season. Getting home from a long day at work and snuggling on the couch under our favorite Pottery Barn faux fur throw in chinchilla grey ombre screams relaxation. This throw helps bring instant luxury to any room mostly due to the texture and hues. Before we can sit and relax we can't forget to light our Voluspa candle in branche vermeil. This candle is the epitome of winter! Thanks to the bomb ass jar this candle is elegant and luxuriously rich in appearance and in scent. It literally makes your room smell like winter for over 100 hours, all while having a dual purpose of being a moisturizer for your hands. The next step to a night in would we to prepare ourselves with a nice piping hot cup of cocoa. We recently came across this salted caramel hot chocolate from Williams-Sonoma on a shopping trip at King of Prussia. They had this deliciousness out as a tester and the smell alone attracted us to go into the store! Upon our first sip, we knew it was an instant buy and we've been hooked ever since. It has chunks of salted caramel and chunks of chocolate which you then melt down with milk in a medium sized pot. Once melted to the desired temperature, you pour this thick magic potion into your favorite mug and enjoy! Only downside is that it is not available year round-- damn you! Looks like we'll have to go on a massive manhunt to track this down in the summer, til then we'll be hunting down these next goods!

What winter beauty means to us is darker hues and dry skin, that's why we've included these goodies as part of our list of essentials! To start, let's talk about this lipstick Diva from none other than Mac Cosmetics. It's rich texture glides on to give you that perfect sexy pout you've been dying to achieve. This color pairs well with many types of looks whether you're going for glam, retro, or sultry it's the go to for many of our friends. Infamously the best deep red you'll probably ever own! To help prep your skin for the winter damage ahead, Josie Maran Argan Oil is a must. We use it for the following:
-to prime our skin for makeup
-to hydrate our skin before bedtime
-to wear as a natural glowing base if we are going makeup less for the day
What we love even more is that only a little is needed for each use, and bonus- it's cruelty free! Along with facial purposes it is a kick ass product for split ends and dry hands.. speaking of which, that brings us to our next essential. We always say "never trust a girl with a bad manicure!" It is important to stay on top of your nail game and make sure your shit is tight. The most amazing color this season to date has been OPI's Christmas Gone Plaid from their Gwen Stefani collection. Winter has always been a season for dark red nails but it's time to bow down RED because this color has stolen your crown.
Once you're all pampered to go why not head out in our next two essentials?

We don't know about you but when we hear the word winter we instantly think of jackets and boots! Whether it's a pea coat or a trench coat, who doesn't love a good jacket? Currently our favorite one just so happens to be one of our own. The amazing Huntress coat is casual chic and trendy. The sherpa lining helps to keep you warm from the bitterness all around, while boasting plenty of pockets to hold your gloves, phone, and other stuff that you have in tow. What really pulls this look together is the classic wellie from Hunter. Rain or snow this boot is practically your best friend. You can style it up with liner socks when it gets chilly, or wear without, either way they're the most comfortable rain boots you'll ever own. After you're dressed and ready to go it is time to head out to grab the next essential!

When we're not getting sloppy throwing back pickleback shots, we're keeping it classy with mulled wine! It's the perfect combination of warmth and spice needed to warm your chilled bones. Served hot, this is our last and best winter essential to get you through the tundra!!

We can't promise this winter will be a short one but what we can promise is that with the help of our essentials you'll find that winter isn't so bad after all!

xoxo-
